Rules of entry into the Russian Federation

Procedure for the arrival of foreign citizens to study at P.F. Lesgaft NSU, St. Petersburg

1. Inform the International Office at least 10 days in advance by e-mail to mo@lesgaft.spb.ru of your planned arrival with the following information:

• Full name (in Latin, as in the passport)
• date of birth, faculty
• passport series and number, passport validity period
• visa series and number (if available)
• faculty, course, group
• expected date of entry
• border crossing point (name of the checkpoint) 

3. Migration registration is carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
4. In case of impossibility of arrival of a foreign student for full-time study at the University, he/she should apply to the dean's office with a personal statement in an arbitrary form to continue studying with the use of distance learning technologies.

Insurance
All foreign citizens staying on the territory of the Russian Federation are required to have medical insurance. The student can choose his/her own insurance company and take out a policy for international students (student standard). A copy of the insurance policy should be sent to the International Department: mo@lesgaft.spb.ru.

Medical care for foreign citizens is provided on the basis of voluntary medical insurance (VMI) purchased at the expense of the foreign citizen's personal funds.
Clause 5 of Article 27 of the Federal Law-114 of 15.08.1996 does not allow a foreign citizen to enter the territory of Russia if he has not provided a medical insurance policy valid in the territory of the Russian Federation. The absence of a policy forms a component of an administrative offense under part 1 of article 18.8 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation - violation of the rules of entry.

• Foreign citizens can obtain a VHI policy on "Gosuslugi"

A VMI policy (voluntary medical insurance) is a mandatory document for foreign citizens in Russia. It is necessary for medical care and employment in the country. Now foreigners can apply for it on "Gosuslugi" and pay online.
A VHI policy is mandatory for foreign citizens to obtain a work patent. It can be issued for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. The document will arrive in the personal cabinet of "Gosuslugi" in electronic form after payment on the insurance company's website.

How to issue VHI to a foreigner:

• log in to the portal under a "Gosuslugi" account, it must be confirmed
• fill out an application
• when the application is accepted, follow the link from your personal cabinet and pay for VHI on the insurance company's website.
• If everything is correct, within 2 working days the electronic VHI policy will arrive in the personal cabinet of "Gosuslugi".
• You can get a VHI policy on the "Gosuslugi".

Migration card
When crossing the state border, a full-time student indicates the purpose of entry - STUDY, only in this case the University can carry out migration registration and extension of the period of stay on the territory of the Russian Federation.
